When your vision feels too big

You did it. You sat down, wrote the vision, and for a moment it felt wonderful.
Then, perhaps the very next morning, another voice arrived: Who do you think you are?
If that has happened to you, nothing has gone wrong. In fact, it is often a sign you have written something true.
Why the wobble comes
A real vision is, by definition, bigger than your current life. Your mind — whose job is to keep you safe and familiar — looks at the gap and sounds the alarm. The wobble is not evidence that the vision is wrong. It is evidence that it stretches you.
So don’t shrink the vision to fit your comfort. Give yourself something to hold on to instead.
Three anchors
1. Read it every day. Five minutes, morning or evening, in the present tense. Familiarity turns “impossible” into “unusual”, and “unusual” into “mine”.
2. Collect evidence. Each week, note one thing — however small — that moved in the direction of your vision. A conversation. An enquiry. A boundary you kept. Small proofs steady a big dream.
3. Borrow belief. On the days you can’t believe in it, let someone else believe for you: a coach, a friend, a circle of women on the same path. That is exactly what a hive is for.
Smaller steps, not a smaller vision
If the vision feels overwhelming, the answer is almost never to want less. It is to take a smaller step today. The size of the dream and the size of the next step are two different things.
Haven’t written your vision yet? Start with why writing it down works.
